Acupuncture is a form of medicine that has been practiced for thousands of years in East Asia. It is the process of taking hair thin stainless steel needles and inserting them into specific points on the body. The body is divided into 12 meridians and/or pathways in which vital force flows. Vital force, or Qi flows through the meridians in specific pathways, and the points in which the needles are inserted are where the Qi pools. If there is a blockage in Qi on any one of those meridians, the body may present itself with sickness, pain, or imbalance.
